ScreenKite

Record and edit Mac screen videos with auto-zoom, captions and AI-agent editing

ScreenKite is a native macOS screen recorder and video editor for product demos, tutorials and software walkthroughs. It brings screen capture, automatic zooms, a multi-track editing timeline and AI-assisted editing into one application, so recordings can be finished without moving to a separate video editor.

Record and refine what happens on screen

  • Capture a display, window, selected area, webcam or connected iPhone, with microphone and system audio options.
  • Use cursor-following zoom, click effects and a loupe effect to draw attention to details.
  • Customize backgrounds, screen padding, corner radius, shadows and camera placement.
  • Capture and annotate screenshots, including scrolling screenshots and text recognition (OCR).

Edit by timeline, transcript or AI agent

The built-in editor supports multiple tracks, trims, transitions, captions and background audio. Transcript-based editing lets users remove spoken words or pauses and cut the corresponding footage. ScreenKite also exposes editing tools to agents such as Claude Code and Codex, which can propose cuts, change layouts and add B-roll. HyperFrames can be used to create short animated inserts. AI-provider usage may involve separate charges.

Export, pricing and compatibility

Export options include MP4, MOV, GIF and ProRes, with presets for different video layouts. Recordings remain local unless users choose sharing or cloud-connected features; sharing options include Google Drive, OneDrive and S3-compatible storage.

Recording and editing are free, but free exports carry a watermark. Pro removes it and adds S3 upload and priority support. Its founder price is $79.99 once for three Macs through October 31, 2026, with $99.99 listed afterward.

ScreenKite requires macOS 15 or later and supports Apple Silicon and compatible Intel Macs. On-device WhisperKit transcription is limited to Apple Silicon; Intel users can configure cloud transcription. Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions are needed for capture and effects.
