Map Mac storage, find duplicate files and shrink supported photos losslessly, with guided cleanup and Apple Photos imports.

KarmaDisk is a Mac storage and photo-management utility that combines interactive disk maps, duplicate-file review and guided cleanup with lossless image compression and Apple Photos imports. It works with folders you choose and leaves decisions about removal to you.

Find large files and review clutter

  • Explore selected folders in a circular storage map or treemap, then sort and filter files, use Quick Look or reveal an item in Finder.
  • Compare identical files and choose which copies to keep; KarmaDisk does not require you to remove every duplicate.
  • Review old downloads and installers through guided cleanup before moving selected items to Trash. Nothing is preselected.

Gather and compress photos

KarmaDisk searches chosen folders for pictures, suggests album groups based on folder names and imports selections into the system Apple Photos library. It verifies the imported copies before offering to move source files to Trash. It can also organize ordinary files into folders with a preview of proposed moves.

For JPEG, PNG and TIFF images, it tests lossless compression and keeps only verified, smaller results. A separate JPEG XL option can reconstruct the original JPEG byte for byte, although other apps may not support that format. It can also create smaller copies of eligible, unedited JPEG, PNG and TIFF images already in Photos. That library workflow excludes HEIC, RAW, Live Photos, edited images and videos; some Photos-specific details, including captions and People, may not carry over.

Access, recovery and licensing

The Mac App Store edition requires macOS 15 or later. It runs in Apple's sandbox, scans only permitted folders and asks separately for Photos access. It does not scan protected system data or uninstall apps. Analysis stays on the Mac, without a KarmaDisk account or tracking.

Originals are retained for recovery until you approve their removal. Backups, imports, Trash and Photos' Recently Deleted album may delay actual space savings; with iCloud Photos, library changes may sync to other devices.

Storage maps, duplicate review and guided cleanup are free. The photo tools have a one-time allowance of 50 processed photos (videos count too). A US $9.90 one-time Full Version purchase unlocks unlimited photo processing and automatic file organization, with no subscription.
